For the last 62 years Hardwick Furniture & Appliances has stood for quality furniture, appliances and accessories for your home. We have truly “made your house a home.”

Leo Hardwick of Malvern began Hardwick Furniture in 1946 as the owner with Bernis L. Hardwick as the manager. In 1954, Marlon Gatling joined the business, doing everything from bookkeeping, to sales, to delivery – plus whatever else needed to be done.  Mr. Gatling retired from Hardwick’s in 2000 after 46 years of service.  Another long-time employee, Bobby Russell, joined Hardwick Furniture in 1964 doing delivery and service work; he retired in 2003.

Mrs. Eleanor Hardwick joined her husband, Bernis, in running the business in 1969.  Hardwick Furniture Company, Inc., started on July 1, 1970, when Bernis, Eleanor and their son Paul purchased the business from Leo. Many people throughout south Arkansas remember Mrs. Hardwick coming to their homes and arranging the new furniture they had just purchased from Hardwick’s.  Bernis and Eleanor have both passed away, leaving behind a legacy of serving South Arkansas with quality furniture and appliances, and service after the sale.

Hardwick Furniture & Appliances today offers a La-Z-Boy Comfort Studio which includes recliners, reclining sofas, sleepers, chairs and much more. We also have Simmons Bedding, Scandinavian Foam Mattresses, King Hickory Sofas, Peters Revington Tables, Hooker Furniture, Vineyard Furniture and Riverside Furniture – just to name a few of the lines offered.  Maytag appliances are also offered at Hardwick Furniture.

In 1995, Patti Wingfield joined the staff, lending Paul a hand with sales and bookkeeping. The delivery team of Kent Smith and Lee Parsons is known for its first-class delivery of merchandise. And in 2007, Shelly Hardwick joined her husband at the store and the company added the JCPenney Catalog Service Center to the store. Customers are able to have JCPenney orders shipped to the store for easy pick-up, plus, you can also make payments on your JCPenney credit card here.

Many things have changed over the years – but one thing remains the same: Paul Hardwick's commitment to continue to carry on the tradition of Hardwick Furniture & Appliances – and to “make your house a home.”
